Essay on Creative Entrepreneurship
Number of words: 1109
Creative entrepreneurship is the act of starting a business venture or employing oneself in the creative industry. It is concerned with the creation and exploitation of intellectual capital and essentially involves investment in talents. The famous creative entrepreneurs have combined their creativity with their entrepreneurial ability to build empires. The definition of creative entrepreneurship means that businesses can be built using knowledge, skills, and talent. People use their intellectual abilities to come up with, design, and develop a business model of their choice by being creative. These are not the common businesses or the typical entrepreneur, but they are the social entrepreneurs driven by their special skills. Entrepreneurship means that the individual is highly successful in a certain area. Creative entrepreneurship can be related to various skills that are earned through specific career paths.
Examples of Creative Entrepreneurship
The educator is an example of creative entrepreneurship, which applies information to teach other people a specific skill. The educators can teach skills like cooking special meals, tutorial on how to start up a certain business, or how to handle some issues (Carey & Matlay, 2007). The educator might use podcasts, videos, and blog posts and issue them for free to their followers. After gaining their trust and interest, the educator can sell learning materials like e-books consisting of the relevant information required by the followers. Their key to success is giving away content for free to build a strong relationship with a large population of their followers. Freelancing is also creative entrepreneurship where one trades specific skills in the field of expertise. Jobs that one trades include; graphic and web design, video production, and social media management. Freelancers find clients globally through social media and real-life and offer solutions to support other people`s businesses.
Moreover, the entertainer may apply various media platforms like YouTube, music, podcasts, and web series to trade their content. They produce content that is engaging with their audience. They plan for live performances and sell tickets for the audience who wish to attend (Schulte-Holthaus, 2017). They also engage in advertising and product promotions to influence their audiences to consume certain items to promote other people`s businesses. The idea behind entertainment is to create a group audience that can provide financial support in different ways.
Impact of Creative Entrepreneurship on My Career
The term creative entrepreneurship is a great challenge to me because I have the mandate to think about how I can integrate my career knowledge with business skills. The recently identified change in the economy has transformed it from an economy based on creativity, imagination, and innovation (Fillis & Rentschler, 2010). The world is always changing, and the 21st century is growing globally and is technology-driven. Some of the necessary skills to survive in this changing environment include creativity, critical thinking, and multicultural understandings (Smith, 2017). Career advancement in such an environment requires working effectively with people from different backgrounds, cultures, racial groups, and nationalities. The good thing is that my career is uniquely suited to enable me to apply these skills. Sociologists study social change and life, diverse communities, and communication and apply scientific methods to address complex social issues (Smith, 2017). My career is in sociology; I have learned and understand the foundation of a better global engagement. My potential career path is community services, and it is a broad category with a variety of possibilities.
Education exposes people to various ideas and opportunities. Creative ideas can be enhanced by education and influence the way people view life opportunities. Through the community service career path in sociology, I can engage in a variety of creative entrepreneurship. I can apply my innovative, problem-solving, and creative skills to design environmental groups. I would engage different people from various backgrounds and educate them on the importance of taking care of the environment. I would create a strong relationship and ensure great influence to them. I would influence my followers to engage in environmental educational events. We would plan events to campaign for measures to cater to the environment. I would also use my sociological skills to invite international and non-governmental organizations to support our program to cater to the environment.
Since the environmental issue is a big challenge globally, inviting organizations to participate in my program would be an effective solution. Due to climate change, the arid and semi-arid areas are being affected by prolonged droughts, thus requiring immediate solutions to protect people living there. Therefore, the term creative entrepreneurship challenges me to come up with a long-term solution. Hence, the idea of water storage and drought resistance species comes to my mind as the best solution.
I would prepare a well-researched and detailed proposal to seek financial and material assistance from the organizations in my program. The finances would acquire necessary equipment and species to be taken to the drought-affected areas. The species would include; food-providing plants, domestic animals, and trees that can survive in drought-affected areas. In addition, I would use some funds to develop seeds that can survive during harsh conditions. Furthermore, the program would employ people to take part in the developments. Although the program is non-profit making, it would improve the lives of the individuals living in the semi-arid and arid areas. Also, the program would provide employment opportunities to various people from different ethnic groups. Furthermore, I would continue to conduct educational events to teach and create awareness among the affected population about the importance of conserving the environment. Therefore, through engaging people and organizations, I would support and improve the living standards of many. Also, I would employ myself through the program, thus the importance of creative entrepreneurship.
Creative entrepreneurship is a challenge to many since it demands unique skills to thrive in the enterprise sector. It demands creativity in addressing social problems and creating entrepreneurial opportunities. Expertise in a certain field is an important aspect of entrepreneurship. The increasing globalization and technology have led to more opportunities that entrepreneurs can apply to succeed in business. Therefore, creativity entrepreneurship is an effective approach to the changing business environment.
