DB HEALTH BEHAVIOR MODEL
The issue of health has a lot of concern in today world, and every person is fighting on ways to have a healthy lifestyle and good future. The health belief model (HBM) is one of the tools which are scientifically proven to try and depict health behaviors (Sallis, Owen & Fisher, 2015). The device was developed in the 1950s but later updated in 1980s and is designed according to one’s willingness to have a change in their health behaviors. Some significant factors that depend on our health behavior are; perceived susceptibility where it is hard for some people to change their health behaviors unless they change their opinions towards the risks they may encounter. Perceived severity is also the factor that determines how severe the condition is and how the person views it. Another factor is the perceived benefit in that the person is convinced on the rewards gained as a result of protecting themselves.
Lastly is the coefficient of perceived barriers where one thinks that it is hard to make individual decisions about their health behaviors in the society since change requires more sacrifice regarding money, time and even effort. The article finally encourages us on what it takes to change in our health behavior. Cues to action is an event that gives us the urge to change, and it graduates a person from wanting to adapt to actual change which might include reading posters about health the importance of using a condom and many others. Finally, self-efficacy is among the essential element that makes one believe in him that he can do it and bring change to his health which means it improves the self-esteem and confidence in a person.
UNIT 2 HEALTHCARE DISPARITY
A healthcare disparity is a term that is becoming more popular in the growing population and mostly among the minority groups in the country. The center for diseases control has measured in place that tries to eradicate such kind of issues in the communities and improve the health services more so in the affected communities (Betancourt et al.,2016). A health disparity is a difference that is observed in the social groups such as the racial minorities and the poor concerning their health and how they acquire the health services from the government.
The minor social groups show a lot of severity in the spread of a specific disease, and this gives us enough evidence of lack of proper medical care meaning the government and neighboring communities have neglected them. The abstract explains why some of the opportunities are in the field of study that requires a lot of concern to help reduce and eliminate the disparities in the current generation. Reading the abstract gives us the proper understanding of how some factors like race, ethnicity, education, geography, and ethnicity influence the health care services in the society. A lot of research and study about the disparities is the only way to lessen the health inequalities in the affected communities. In the field of profession studying a cause of something needs a lot of proper evidence that is related to that issue to come up with clear implementation policies that help to reduce the rate of health disparities in a particular region.
